What is Naloxone (Narcan)?

Naloxone commonly referred to as Narcan is an antagonist medication that is used to reverse opioid overdose.

Who is eligible for the Community Program?

Everyone! The Community Narcan Program is open to all. This is a drop-in program that teaches visitors how to detect a potential overdose, proper storage of medication, and how to administer the medication. You do not have to be an existing patient of the practice to participate.

What Narcan side effects might I experience?

The most common Narcan side effects include:

  • Agitation
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Pulmonary Edema
  • Hypotension
  • Cardiac Arrhythmias
  • Seizures
